Assassin's Creed Odyssey takes place during the Peloponnesian War between Sparta and Athens. This section explains whether the hero should ally with one of the warring nations and how to choose the side of the conflict that you want to support.
The main character of AC Odyssey, despite the fact that he or she was born Spartan, is mysterious at the beginning of the game. This means that he is an impartial mercenary who helps those who reward him better for his work. You do not need to make decisions at the beginning of the game or in any of the subsequent chapters regarding the final alliance with one of the warring nations. You can complete quests and play battles on the side of Athens or Sparta, depending on your preferences and the prizes offered.
Each region in the game world is initially under the control of Sparta or Athens. In the example above, the Chios region (island) is controlled by Athens. You can read this information on the right side of the screen when the cursor is over the region.
If the region was under the control of Sparta at the beginning of the game, the quest managers in that region will be Spartans (with possible minor exceptions), and if it was under the control of Athens, they will be Athenians.
Weakening a nation's influence over a region opens up the opportunity to play one of two battles of conquest - you can help the defending nation maintain control of the region or the attacking nation take control of the region.
Regardless of the outcome of the battle, you can start weakening the same region again. It is also worth noting that even if control of the region passes to a new nation, the markers of available side missions will not disappear from the map. The main and side tasks of the game are performed regardless of your actions in the conquest mode.
